1. What Is Initia?

Initia is a pioneering modular multichain network designed to create a unified multichain ecosystem. It seamlessly integrates the infrastructure and economic framework of both Layer 1 and Layer 2 application-specific chains. The platform’s primary goal is to simplify the process for developers to launch their own application chains, while ensuring smooth cross-chain asset movement and a consistent, user-friendly experience across all chains. Initia’s proprietary Layer 1 + Rollup architecture fosters inherent communication and interaction between chains within the ecosystem. Built on the Cosmos SDK, Initia enables developers to quickly deploy custom chains using Minitia (application-layer Rollups). This streamlined approach eliminates complex deployment challenges, enabling developers to focus on building their applications and take full advantage of seamless inter-chain connectivity and shared economic incentives.

Initia’s economic model introduces an innovative Enshrined Liquidity mechanism that directly ties asset liquidity to the security of each chain. A complementary VIP system ensures fair value distribution between users and developers, reinforcing ecosystem-wide alignment. In addition, Initia emphasizes native development and seamless ecosystem integration by offering a comprehensive suite of built-in tools—including wallets, oracles, and block explorers. 2. How Does Initia Work?

Initia brings its multichain vision to life through three core components:

Interwoven Stack: This robust framework allows developers to build application-specific Rollups using their preferred virtual machines—EVM, MoveVM, or WasmVM. It offers full end-to-end customization while supporting seamless cross-chain interoperability via protocols such as LayerZero and IBC.

Enshrined Liquidity: A novel consensus mechanism that merges staking with liquidity provision. Validators must stake INIT tokens and simultaneously provide liquidity, enhancing both network security and cross-chain transaction efficiency.

Unified Product Suite: To simplify the experience for users and developers alike, Initia offers an all-in-one toolkit. This includes Initia Scan (a multichain block explorer), user-friendly wallets, efficient cross-chain bridges, and more.

3. Who Founded Initia?

Stanford Liu is the co-founder and CEO of Initia. He previously served as Head of Research at Terraform Labs and graduated from Princeton University. OmniscientAsian is Vice President of Crescendo Ventures and Head of Ecosystem at Initia, and previously worked at Sino Global Capital. Another co-founder, Ezaan Mangalji, is an investor in Plume Network.

Initia has raised $24 million across multiple funding rounds, with investments from Binance, Delphi Digital, Hack VC, Big Brain Holdings, and others:

Community Round: Valued at $250 million, raised $2.5 million.

Series A: Closed in September 2024, raising $14 million at a $350 million valuation. Investors included Theory Ventures*, Hack VC, Bryan Pellegrino, Guy Young, Nick Chong, Ajit Tripathi, Keone Hon, Michael Egorov, cygaar, Jordi Alexander, icebergy, and Zaki Manian.

Seed Round: Raised $7.5 million in February 2024, with participation from Delphi Digital*, Hack VC*, Nascent, Figment Capital, A.Capital, Big Brain Holdings, Cobie, Nick White, Smokey, DCF GOD, Fiskantes, Zaheer Ebtikar, naniXBT, Maghnus Mareneck, OmniscientAsian, Sawit Trisirisatayawong, and Batuhan Dasgin.

October 2023: Secured an undisclosed investment from Binance (YZi Labs).

4. Initia Tokenomics

The total supply of INIT is fixed at 1 billion tokens, of which 5% is allocated to the airdrop. The detailed token allocation is as follows:

Airdrop (5%): Designed to reward testnet participants, ecosystem promoters, and early community members. Tokens will be fully unlocked at Mainnet launch (TGE), with a 30-day claim window for eligible users.

Foundation (7.75%): Managed by the Initia Foundation, this allocation supports liquidity provision, validator delegation, ecosystem incentives, and strategic partnerships. Tokens will be released in stages to support long-term ecosystem growth.

Team (15%): Allocated to the core development team and contributors. These tokens will be subject to a 12-month lock-up, followed by linear vesting over 36 months, totaling a four-year vesting period.

Protocol Sales (15.25%): Distributed to investors across three funding rounds. These tokens follow the same four-year vesting schedule as the team allocation, ensuring investor alignment with the project’s long-term vision.

Enshrined Liquidity & Staking (25%): Reserved to support Initia’s native staking mechanism and to incentivize liquidity providers and validator nodes. These tokens are released linearly by block at a rate of 5% per year.

VIP Incentive Program (25%): A core reward mechanism for the Initia ecosystem, targeting Rollup developers, active users, and key contributors. The initial release rate is 7% per year, with further vesting tied to KPI achievements or zap-based mechanisms.

CEX Listing Activities (6%): Allocated to bootstrap liquidity and support launch activities on centralized exchanges (CEXs), primarily for listing-related initiatives.

Echo.xyz Community Sale (1%): Reserved for participants of the Echo.xyz community sale. Tokens will unlock in four equal installments of 25% each at 12, 15, 18, and 24 months following the Mainnet launch.

Core Functions of the INIT Token:

Gas Fees: INIT is used to pay transaction fees across both Layer 1 and Layer 2 of the Initia network, serving as the universal gas within the ecosystem.

Staking & Consensus: Users can stake INIT to actively participate in securing the network through its consensus mechanism. This process is enhanced by a liquid staking model designed to maximize staking efficiency.

Decentralized Governance: INIT holders possess the power to influence the network's future by participating in key governance decisions, including adjustments to protocol parameters, vetting liquidity whitelists, managing treasury allocations, and distributing ecosystem incentives.

Cross-Rollup Bridging: INIT facilitates asset transfer and state synchronization between Rollups, enabling smooth and efficient cross-chain interactions.

Core Asset on InitiaDEX: INIT is used to create liquidity pools on InitiaDEX, allowing participants to earn transaction fees and additional protocol incentives.
